This Philips DCC 900 series compact cassette player / recorder was the flagship model from Philips. Following the success of the (analog) Compact Cassette in the 1960s and the (digital) Compact Disc in the 1980s, Philips introduced the ‘Digital Compact Cassette’ (DCC) in the 1990s: Digital recording and playback on a Cassette System. The competitor of DAT recorders, with the advantage that old-fashioned cassettes can also be played on them.
The DCC-900 was the very first Philips player equipped with DCC. Equipped with both analog and digital inputs and outputs (Coax and Toslink). The digital inputs and outputs only work with digital cassettes. The digital recording quality is described as impressive. Features options for easy recording from Compact Discs.
This set comes with:
- an original DCC remote controller
- a blank DCC tape
- Power adapter
